SUBSTITUTE Para Professionals

The Flagler County School District is compiling a list of candidates for future sub para professional positions. If you would like to be considered, please apply for this position.
Applying for this position does not imply that you will be added to the sub pool. Additions to our sub pool will be based on the needs of the District.
(1) Associates Degree or 60 College Credits or passing the Para Professional Test.
(2) Computer proficiency.
(3) Prior experience working with children desired.
(4) Resident of Flagler County preferred.
Ability to relate to and work with students and adults in a positive manner. Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills. Possess basic English and mathematics skills. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Basic knowledge of technology and ability to apply knowledge to assigned area of responsibilities. Ability to perform clerical tasks. Planning and organizational skills. Knowledge of operation of office and audio-visual equipment. Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues. Willing to attend training and in-service relevant to responsibilities of assigned area.
Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials and equipment.
Assist the teacher in implementing classroom activities
Provide instructional assistance as planned or coordinated by the teacher or administrator.
Provide student supervision as required by the teacher or administrator.
Compile required data and enter into the computer.
Participate in training programs and in-service.
Plan and organize appropriate instruction using guidelines established by the teacher or administrator.
Utilize classroom management techniques conducive to an effective classroom environment.
Maintain a clean and orderly environment for students.
Operate instructional equipment effectively.
Establish and maintain records and files pertinent to assigned program.
Assist in maintaining positive relationships between the school and parents.
Contact parents at the direction of teacher or administration.
Assist in assessing student progress as directed.
Maintain confidentiality regarding student information.
Assist students with personal hygiene and / or grooming if required.
Use effective, positive interpersonal skills.
Perform other incidental tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
